I am inspired

Malo lelei fefe hake my name is Vaka. I go to Tamaki Primary School. I’m a Year 5 and I am Tongan. I have 5 brothers my mum and my dad.

I am good at Rugby and Soccer. What I love to do is learn to do maths and inquiry. My challenges are to speak out loud to my class.

What I’m looking forward this year is to learn my division to twelve. What I what to achieve this year is my reading and my writing. The person that inspires me is Joseph Parker.

In a nutshell I learnt...

• in 2012 two Waka with people inside called Te Aurere and Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti sailed to Rapanui. 
• I also learnt that Gambier Islands is close to Rapanui.
• when they were sailing It took ten months to go to Rapanui and go back.
• During the journey the navigator yous his skills and knowledge to locate Rapanui Island.
• The navigator used the sun and ocean swells and at night he used the stars to keep him on track.
• The voyages was the dream of master Waka builder Hekenukumai.
